When I look at Odysseus wife, Penelope I feel for her. I mean imagine having your husband gone for 20 years? How would you feel, I would feel like so many of my questions haven’t been answered, I would be lost. Do I move on or do I just stay and hope that he is coming back to me? You really have no idea. That’s like 20 years of just waiting and waiting. It would drive me crazy. But when Odysseus arrives home to Ithaca, no one knows it’s him he is disguised as a beggar. He finds his son and explains mostly everything to him and then they both think of a plan to save his wife. His wife Penelope asks to speak to the beggar, no one understands why. But I know why. The beggar tells her “Odysseus will be home very soon.” You can tell she has hope. After all she did say once her weaving was done she would have an answer. So she would weave all day long, then at night she would undo it all. All because she had hope that Odysseus would come back to her. That’s a smart women I tell you. And the next thing you know after killing off all those men that were trying to take his wife in marriage, he was there to be with his family. Now that he returned home to Ithaca to his family, a celebration was in need. With wonderful wine, great food, and wonderful people surrounding them.
